Many Americans Unaware of Tech Giants’ Ownership of Popular Apps

A recent DuckDuckGo survey revealed that 50% of WhatsApp users do not know that Facebook owns the app. Also, 60% of Waze users are unaware that Google owns the app.

This is alarming. Both companies engage in extensive data collection practices. They access messages, photos, and location data. Many users turn to these apps seeking privacy. They do not realize their data still flows to the same tech giants they are trying to avoid.

As privacy concerns grow, we need better transparency. People also need more awareness. These aspects help individuals make informed decisions about their digital lives.
