Sun Tan Oil, Stale Margaritas and Greed is the eleventh chapter of Max Payne 3, continuing Max’s fight through São Paulo as he investigates the events surrounding the Branco family and their enemies.
Throughout the chapter, players can fight through heavily guarded areas, discover hidden collectibles, and uncover clues that reveal more about Max’s investigation and the growing conflict surrounding him.
“Sun Tan Oil, Stale Margaritas and Greed” is the eleventh chapter of Max Payne 3 and the beginning of Part III. Max and Passos are now protecting Marcelo Branco aboard a yacht in the Panama Canal. What should be a quiet trip quickly turns into another firefight when armed attackers board the ship.
This chapter contains 14 collectibles: 6 Golden Gun parts and 8 Clues. The Golden Gun parts complete the Golden Super Sport and Golden AK-47. The chapter also contains the Along For The Ride achievement/trophy, which can be earned during the zipline sequence.

Search the Cabins
After the opening cutscene, Max wakes up in his cabin.
You’ll begin the chapter without any Painkillers, so check the bathroom in Max’s room and take the Painkiller before heading into the hallway.
A small group of enemies is already moving through the yacht. Take them out from cover and then search the nearby cabins before continuing.
Clue 1 – Notes on Max
Leave Max’s room and enter the cabin directly across the hallway.
Look for the yellow note sitting on the dresser near the bathroom.
Examine it to collect the first clue.

Clue 2 – Passos’ Bed
From Max’s room, move down the hallway and enter the next room on the right.
Passos’ bed is inside.
Examine it to collect the second clue.

There’s another Painkiller in the bathroom farther down the hallway if you need it.
Clear the Kitchen
Continue toward the kitchen and prepare for another group of enemies.
Take cover and work your way through the attackers. Once the area is clear, search the back of the kitchen before moving on.
Golden Super Sport Part 1
Go through the doorway covered by plastic strips on the right side of the galley.
Inside the small storage/freezer area, turn left and look near the industrial refrigerator.
The first Golden Super Sport part is lying on the floor.

After collecting it, return to the kitchen and continue toward the radio.
The Engine Room
Approach the radio to trigger a cutscene.
Soon afterward, Max is thrown into another firefight. Take out the enemies around the engine room and then locate the two emergency fuel shutoff valves.
Turn both valves off to prevent the damaged engine from causing even more trouble.

Once the valves are closed, continue through the doors at the rear of the ship.
Clue 3 – Blood Trail
As soon as you enter the next section, look directly ahead.
You’ll see blood on the wooden deck near the back of the yacht.
Examine the bloodstain to collect the third clue.

Continue up the stairs toward the upper deck.
Golden Super Sport Part 2
Once you reach the upper deck, eliminate the enemies around the roof and walkways.
After the area is clear, stay on the right side of the deck and follow the walkway toward the far end.
The second Golden Super Sport part is waiting there.

Continue inside through the nearby doorway.
Search the Interior
Enter the gym-like room and grab the Painkiller from the first-aid cabinet.
A cutscene follows, after which another group of enemies attacks.
Clear the room and then search the area carefully before continuing.
Clue 4 – Discarded Newspaper
Look for the round table near the damaged wall.
A newspaper is sitting on top of it.

Clue 5 – Pried Wall
Stay in the same room and look at the damaged wall where the attackers were trying to break through.
Examine the wall to collect another clue.

Search the Cabins
Continue down the hallway and enter the first cabin on the right.
Clue 6 – Daphne’s Passport
Look on the floor behind the desk.
Daphne’s passport is lying there.

Continue to the next cabin.
Clue 7 – Daphne’s Jewelry Box
Enter the second cabin farther down the hallway on the right.
After dealing with the enemies inside, check the cupboard against the wall.

Once you’ve collected it, continue toward the front of the yacht.
Fight Toward the Bridge
Head outside onto the deck and clear the enemies.
You’ll have attackers coming from different levels of the yacht, so use the stairways and railings as cover instead of standing in the open.
Continue forward until you reach the main lounge area.
There’s a Painkiller on a table near the television, so grab it before moving on.

More enemies will attack from the direction of the docks.
Take cover and eliminate them before heading upstairs toward the bridge.
Golden AK-47 Part 1
Before entering the captain’s bridge, look for a painting on the left side of the entrance.
Shoot the painting.
A hidden safe opens behind it, revealing the first Golden AK-47 part.

Take the Painkillers from the nearby area if you need them, then head to the bridge.
Reach the Bridge
Enter the bridge and a cutscene begins.
After Max and Passos regroup, the fighting continues as enemies attack from a tower.
Stay behind the available cover and eliminate the attackers one group at a time.

Golden AK-47 Part 2
After the first group is defeated, look toward the vehicles near your starting cover.
Move around to the left side of the vehicle.
The second Golden AK-47 part is lying on the ground there.

Make sure you’ve collected it before the game moves you farther forward.
Continue Through the Tower
More enemies will appear from the tower and ground level.
Use the vehicles and nearby structures for cover while moving up.
Once the area is clear, follow Passos into the next section.
A cutscene begins and Max eventually reaches a position overlooking the docks.

The Zipline
Max spots an enemy and jumps onto a zipline to reach the opposite building.
This is one of the most memorable sequences in the chapter, and it also contains the chapter’s achievement/trophy.
Along For The Ride
To unlock Along For The Ride, you need to trigger a Bullet Cam while riding the zipline with Free Aim enabled.
As Max travels across, several enemies appear on the opposite side. Kill all five enemies before reaching the end of the zipline. Once the final enemy is killed, the Bullet Cam should trigger and the achievement/trophy will unlock.
Make sure Targeting is set to Free Aim before attempting it.

Golden Super Sport Part 3
As soon as you arrive outside the next building, look toward the rightmost side of the area.
Follow the path around the building to find the final Golden Super Sport part.

With this part collected, you’ve completed the Golden Super Sport.
Enter the Building
Go through the doors on the right and enter the building.
There are several Painkillers in the entrance area, so pick them up before continuing.
Activate the security gate and move farther inside.
Enemies will attack from the stairs and surrounding rooms. Take your time and use the corners for cover.

Golden AK-47 Part 3
After moving upstairs, you’ll eventually reach a section with several staircases.
Take the first staircase leading downward on the right.
Follow it to find the final Golden AK-47 part.

You’ve now collected all six Golden Gun parts in Chapter 11 and completed the Golden AK-47.
Search the Visitor Center
Continue upward through the building.
You’ll encounter enemies around the display areas and staircases, so clear each section before moving farther inside.
There are a few surprise attacks from side rooms, so keep your weapon ready when approaching corners.

Clue 8 – Visitor Center Display
Enter the green exhibit room and examine the display containing the two statues.
This is the eighth and final clue of the chapter.

A final cutscene plays and brings Chapter 11 to an end.
